Unfortunately, almost all the choices we make now will greatly impact our environment and the future. Choose carefully.

It's SO scary isn't it? This whole global warming business? The fact that one day we're going to wake up and be roasted, because there won't be any water or trees left?

oh and have you watched An Inconvenient Truth? everyone's RAVING about it, I've wanted to watch it for a long time..

I know, when I sit down and really think about our future - or lack thereof - it freaks me out. That all this stuff we're doing now, by God, is going to be the end of us. Or our children.

Yes I've seen An Inconvenient Truth! I liked it so much I went out and bought the book (which is carbon neutral, of course) and watched it again. Fantastic documentary, very well done; it will probably freak you out further but difinitely worth seeing at least once!

I used to like that film until Al Gore got busted for what pretty much amounts to fraud.

Video clips computer-generated and stolen from Day After Tomorrow

Gore sued by The Weather Channel/Gore caught selling carbon credits

I was right on with the global warming thing until I learned about some other contributing factors. I'm still a firm believer in cutting down (in a major way) on energy consumption and I still believe that humans probably will end up destroying the world, but I don't quite follow the same view on global warming anymore.

And I do realize that just because Gore lied about some things doesn't mean that it doesn't exist at all... There are just too many other factors for me to continue believing in things the same way anymore.

It should have been "cut and dry." But even "green" has grey areas now.

Environmentalists have to start realizing that it's not about saving the world; Earth has survived methane dozens of ice ages, asteroid collisions, and etc.

Another ice age brought about by global warming isn't going to ruin anything.

It's about saving certain sectors of human civilization as we know it. Is it a serious problem? Well yeah, sure, but it's not the end of the world.

So it's solvable.

Or, in other words...

Haha, and the rollover text is even funnier.

Also? K's wrong. =)

About what? Everything? Ha ha, kidding K! Love what you said about "green" having grey areas. ;-)

Anyway, global warming or not, the environment is messed up in so many ways and it is our fault. I think that in any case, we need to be more sustainable.

(that header was hilarious.)

I just think that K, despite her protestations, is mixing up Al Gore with his work, or an entire movement.

MLK cheated on his wife and plagiarized his dissertation, but that doesn't mean racial equality has "gray" areas. Is it a clear cut issue? No. But it's something to strive for nonetheless, because as long as you're moving, you're making progress.

Also, boobies.

Ooh, that's an excellent point you make. And I definitely agree that it's something to strive for. Al Gore has sparked worldwide incentive, and that's incredibly admirable. Nothing is cut and dry though, or black and white. (Also, I liked the irony of the phrase, green and grey. Yeah, I'm superficial like that.)

That's why I said "And I do realize that just because Gore lied about some things doesn't mean that it doesn't exist at all... There are just too many other factors for me to continue believing in things the same way anymore."

I was just trying to prove a point that I'm not such a huge Al Gore fan anymore. And that since I started investigating the matter more thoroughly, I've changed my mind about some of it.

And I was also trying to prove a point about politics and the hilarity of the world that we live in. When a politician turns environmentalist and then starts selling carbon credits and gets sued by TWC... Well. You just can't top that. It's ironic but expected, so it's not ironic at all. Except that one expected it to turn out ironically, so it is in the fact that it isn't.

Gotta love it.
